Kobo Vox

Are you in the market for a tablet reader like the Kindle and Nook? You can try the Kobo Vox, the tablet to earn the title “the little tablet that could”. It was released the same time as Kindle Fire so in many ways, this could be the tablet that you may choose over the Kindle. But on closer inspection, you’ll see the differences might change your mind.

Kobo Vox features the essentials of Kindle: a good screen to make reading better, eBook features that enrich your experience with reading and a simple slick design that almost goes on par with Kindle. It also features the same controls of Kindle that lets you bookmark the pages of your books, zoom in and much more. It also features a wall charger which lets you plug it in any outlet in the world so you can read anywhere you want, even in the hotel room.

Kobo Vox is very easy to use just like Kindle so you won’t have any qualms about it. But Kobo Vox gets a rating of 2 out of 5. Why? Because Kobo Vox, while looks great and works great, does have drawbacks to it. For one, the price. It’s affordable but at the same price, you can actually get better tablet readers with better specs. Speaking of specs, that’s two: it has lower specs. Compared to Kindle and Nook, Kobo Vox falls short. And finally, the app selection of Kobo Vox isn’t as diverse as Kindle or other products. So if I were you, I’d get a Kindle instead.

Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1

Motorola has hit the road to make tablet PCs as well besides the phones. From cellphones to smartphones, Motorola now makes their venture into the market with Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1. It’s mostly designed with business people in mind since it’s got apps and programs designed around the business market. Does Motorola excel in tablets as well?

The Motorola Droid Xyboard features a whole slew of business apps and programs that make it easy for the business people to navigate. It also features 4G connection features which makes it on par with other high quality tablets. It also features a stylus that gives you an option so you can either use your fingers or the stylus for touch controls. It also features an android OS that organizes the programs.

But the Motorola Droid Xyboard isn’t quite easy to use. It is easy that you can navigate very well but the tablet PC is filled up with apps that doesn’t help. They actually clutter your menu. The stylus doesn’t make anything better. I prefer to use my finger to use touch controls. It also has some design flaws, with the buttons put into spaces that make it a bit inconvenient. I also don’t like the price of this tablet PC. While it looks like a solid tablet with Android installed and with apps that make it easier for the business man to navigate through, this tablet PC doesn’t live up to expectations. This is why I rate this product 1 out 5.

Apple iPad (3rd Generation)

Since its release years ago, the iPad has sold millions. People all around the world are digging Apple’s tablet PC and has since opened many doors. This year, the iPad gets a new iteration to make it the 3rd generation. Though the iPad 3 looks the same, it has enough changes and upgrades to make it another great addition to the line products of Apple this year.

iPad 3 features a slightly thicker and heavier design but this is because it features a new battery that gives it a bit more life. It features a new display that gives the iPad 3 newer vibrant colors not seen in previous iterations of the iPad. It also features 1Gb of RAM which make the processing of apps faster and better. It also features more access to apps and with the access of the new RAM, you can finally use apps like Garageband and iMovie better. It features everything from the previous iPads and more.

iPad 3 is, like the previous iPads, easy to use. It’s what you expect from the iPad: it’s simply designed, it’s easy to navigate, the apps work well and it’s customizable. iPad 3 really lives up to its expectations. But it’s not perfect which is why I rate the product 4 out 5. It still lacks expandable memory, the processor heats up fast and it lacks more features. But iPad 3 makes things better with it so anyone in the market for an iPad will be delighted to get one today.

ZTE Optik

The ZTE Optik is another offer in the tablet market that’s really appealing to the eyes of the consumer, since it’s only priced at $99. There’s nothing like a cheap priced tablet to be sold to you but everything comes with a price. The $99 tablet comes with a contract with Sprint that lasts for two years. But as you may know, the cost still remains large without the contract, so with or without the contract, you still have to pay a big amount. But the ZTE Optik does feature the good features of a quality tablet.

The ZTE Optik features a robust 16GB hard drive that you can expand with MicroSD cards, perfect for music, photos and files. It features a great design that makes it look sleek and elegant. It also features a built-in Ebook reader like those used in the NOOK and Kindle tablet. It also features a longer-lasting battery life.

The ZTE Optik is surprisingly easy to use. With a nice build and essential apps installed, the ZTE Optik makes it easier to navigate through the menus without any problems. But I have to rate this product 2 out of 5 because there are just a few things that prevent from buying this tablet. First, the price is way too high, with or without the contract. Second, the ZTE Optik doesn’t perform as well as other tablet PCs which may be cheaper even without a contract. And third, it doesn’t support the Android OS as of now.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Who doesn’t know about the Samsung Galaxy Tab series? Now in its latest iteration, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 leads the pack of Samsung Galaxy Tabs by not only retaining the best features from the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and other product lines but also giving it something that most people will definitely find attractive: an affordable price. This is a quality tablet with a price you can afford.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 features a whole slew of features that really make the price worth it. It has a great battery life which is an issue for most tablets. It features a design that makes it lighter and slimmer. It features the latest operating system of the Android which lets you download the latest and greatest apps for enjoyment. It also features a refined touch screen control scheme just like its bigger counterparts. It features pre-loaded apps to make it easier for you to use such as youtub and a cloud storage app for your files.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a bit daunting to use. Just like the other Galaxy Tabs, the design of the menus put on too much color and visuals. This can sometimes make it a bit complex but after a while, you’ll get used to the design. But in my opinion, I prefer iPad’s simpler scheme. I rate the product 3 out of 5 because while the price is affordable and it retains features, it has a few cons. First, the storage is a bit too small, having only 8GB. Second, the cameras are of poor quality. And third, the resolution is mediocre. It doesn’t have the high quality screen resolution as other tablets.

Acer Iconia A510

If you’re not in the market for an iPad but want a high-powered tablet PC like the iPad itself at an affordable price, look no further than the Acer Iconia A510. The Acer Iconia A510 is the fourth product offering in the line of Iconia, Acer’s brand of tablet. It might look like a clone of the iPad but another look at this tablet will say otherwise.

Acer Iconia A510 has many features. For its design, the Acer Iconia sports a high-quality bezel glass with the Acer brand plastered onto the glass with a quality front screen and a slick layout that gives it a nice design that makes it look elegant. It features high quality audio, in which it uses Dolby Digital Plus audio that gives you the best audio a tablet can give. It also features superb battery life so you don’t have to charge often. It also features the best graphics card that display topnotch visuals that give out the simple and elegant-looking layouts on the screen which uses the NVIDIA Tegra 3 graphics card. It also features a simple but intuitive navigational menu.

The Acer Iconia A510 is very easy to use. After a few hours of trying the Acer, you’ll find it’s very easy to navigate through the various menus of the game. The programs installed in the tablet work really well so you won’t have much of a problem. I rate this product 4 out of 5 because it suffers from screen glare (most tablets have this common issue) and the colors saturate a tad too much. But other than that, Acer Iconia A510 is a great tablet, installed with the latest specs to compete with the iPad.

So What Do You Think About the Fire?

Amazon Kindle FireSo far I am very impressed with the performance of the fire.  I even like the added benefits that Amazon throws in.  Sure, there’s the free month of Prime, but they have also disabled all Google Adsense ads.  That’s right, you can surf the web without having to see all of those annoying Google Ads.  Sure, it is hurting Google and then technically also this website, because that is how we make money to operate the site, but it is a very interesting feature.  The speed of the unit is great, the battery life is standard and the screen is bright and crisp.  Overall, this is the best tablet out there for the money right now.

If you are looking for a good quality pc, then check it out because it is priced right for nearly all budgets.

Kindle Fire, Amazon Fire

Amazon Kindle FireKindle Fire, Amazon Fire

Amazon has created a real game changer with their Kindle Fire. The 7” device is in a class by itself, it’s in between a phone, in-between a tablet and serves multiple purposes in a convenient design. The Kindle Fire has a stunning color touch screen that makes magazines pop, movies and book more vibrant and the colors are vibrant. The Kindle Fire also offers a feature called in-plane switching which has been seen before in iPad, but still makes for a nice addition. Because the Kindle Fire is tied into Amazon, you have a lot of nice media features and options available. One fairly important feature is that you have free cloud access with Amazon’s new cloud services. There’s also a massive amount of media, magazines and movies. Amazon carries hundreds of titles in books, movies and magazines.

Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon Kindle Fire with One Month Free Amazon Prime

Amazon is also using the Kindle Fire as a great launching pad for Amazon Prime, the streaming service that is going to give Hulu and Netflix a run for the money. Amazon Prime has well over 10,000 titles of commercial-free streaming content. That includes television and movies.

Amazon really took their time with the Kindle Fire, but you can tell that there was a lot of care put into the design. The Kindle Fire is easy to use and has a very intuitive interface. If you want to listen to music, read a book or watch a movie, its all there. The Kindle Fire is so easy to use that even people that are afraid of technology would get the hang of it and end up loving it. If you know how to use a television remote control, then the Kindle Fire will pose zero problems. This is actually on my Christmas list for my grandmother and my mother and father. Mom and dad will have to share, but the $199 price is spectacular.

Amazon Kindle FireKindle Fire Does it Differently

Technically speaking, the Kindle Fire is fast. It uses dual core processing which makes for smooth viewing and listening. One thing that the Kindle Fire does differently is that they are offering a free paid app every day. I’m not sure if this is just a promotional thing, but getting a free paid app each day is actually kind of a nice touch.

The Kindle Fire uses an Amazon browser which has been named Silk. Amazon developed a browser specifically for their cloud services. Silk is accelerated, uses split browser architecture and puts the services of Amazon web services cloud right at your finger tips. Another nice addition is that the Kindle Fire supports Adobe Flash.

Amazon Kindle FireKindle Fire and the Amazon Cloud

Since the Kindle Fire uses the Amazon Cloud, you don’t have to worry about storage space because it’s virtually unlimited. You can store your own movies, music and book, plus your apps on your own cloud and access them whenever you want with the Kindle Fire. On top of all of that, you also have access to over 2 million free titles which include classics like Pride and Prejudice.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire is designed for travel. Its compact size allows for it to fit in a purse, a backpack or even just carry it around in your hand. The display is also perfect for viewing and it has been strengthened to be 30 times stronger than plastic which makes it extremely resistant to scrapes and damage.

Absolutely love this little piece of tech. 10/10 all the way!
